Tuubihuivi alpakasta / Alpaca Infinity Scarf

Lankakorin tyhjennys etenee - nyt oli alpakkalankojen vuoro. Loin 100 silmukkaa pyöröpuikoille 3.5 ja aloin neuloa oikeaa, raidottamalla jo tuotannosta poistunutta Novita Luxus Alpacaa (1.5 kerää tummanharmaata, 1.5 kerää harmaata) ja Hjertegarnin Vidal Alpacaa (3 kerää tummaa viininpunaista). Lopuksi yhdistin tekeleen renkaaksi silmukoimalla. Ihan kiva tuli: 22 * 139cm, menee kaksi kertaa kaulan ympäri.

Stash busting exercises continue - now it was time to get rid of alpaca yarns. I made 100 stitches on circular needles number 3.5 and started knitting in round. I made randomish stripes with Novita Luxus Alpaca (1.5 skeins of dark grey, 1.5 skeins of grey) and Hjertegarn Vidal Alpaca (3 skeins of dark wine red). In the end, I grafted the stitches together to make a round scarf. I like the end result: 22 * 139cm, can be wrapped around the neck twice.

Saroyan-huivi / Saroyan scarf

Tämä Saroyan-huivi valmistui jo keväällä, mutta syksy on sille oikea vuodenaika. Huivi on tehty kolmesta kerästä Hjertegarn Vidal Alpaca-lankaa kolmepuoloisen puikoilla. Mielestäni huivi sopii ruskaan upeasti!




This Saroyan scarf was done already in the spring but autumn is its true season. The scarf is knitted from three skeins of Hjertegarn Vidal Alpaca (needles number 3.5). I think the autumn colours really make justice to the scarf!

Color Affection

Olin jo pitkään halunnut neuloa Veera Välimäen Color Affection-huivin. Lankavarastostani löytyi muutama kerä huiviin sopivaa Novitan Luxus Alpaca-lankaa vaalean- ja harmaanruskeana. Koska Novita ei enää tee alpakkalankaa, ostin Hjertegarnin Vidal Alpacaa valkoisena ruskehtavien lankojen kaveriksi. Mielestäni tämä väriyhdistelmä on mukavan harmoninen.

I had long been wanting to knit this Veera Välimäki's Color Affection shawl. When going through my yarn stash, I realised I had a few skeins of Novita Luxus Alpaca (in khaki and greyish brown) that would be perfect for it. As Novita stopped making the alpaca yarn, I bought some Hjertegarn Vidal Alpaca in white to accompany the browns. I quite like the harmony of the colour combination.


Lankaa kuluu noin kaksi kerää kutakin väriä 3.5 puikoilla neulottaessa.

Approximately two skeins of each colour are needed when knitting with needles 3.5.

Kalajoki-sukat / Kalajoki socks

Pidän näistä Kalajoki-sukista todella paljon, koska ne ovat yksinkertaiset, kauniit ja mielenkiintoiset tehdä. Ohje on Ravelryssä suomeksi ja englanniksi. Tein pieniä muutoksia ohjeeseen varpaiden kohdalla. Vaihdoin toispuoleisen nauhakavennuksen eräänlaiseksi sädekavennukseksi, jossa jokikuviokin kavennettiin siten, että joen alkulähde on noin pikkuvarpaiden päällä. Käytin lankana Novitan Luxus Alpacaa ja kolmosen puikkoja. Lankaa kului noin 80 grammaa 38 koon sukkiin.

I really like this pattern resembling a slowly flowing river. The pattern is available also in English at Ravelry. It is simple, pretty and interesting. It is also a fast knit. I changed the pattern a bit in the toes. Instead of the one-sided string decrease I made a round decrease which fits the pattern (just do not ask me to write it down - I just did it with a feeling). I also decreased the pattern: my river has a starting spring near the little toe :) I used Novitan Luxus Alpaca and number 3 needles. Size 38 socks required about 80 grams of yarn.

Now these are quite luxurious woolly socks, if I may say so. This alpaca wool yarn is extremely nice to work with. It's also very soft and warm. Gotta get some more!
